Mt Eden, one of about 50 volcanoes of the Auckland volcanic field, is one of Aucklands most well known landmarks formed about 20,000 to 30,000 years ago.As the highest volcano (196 meteres) on the Auckland isthmus (a.k.a narrow strip of land with water on both sides), it has great viewpoints and has a 360 degree view of Auckland City. It is safe now for tourists to enjoy the view and take pictures with out it having it to erupt.
