A funicular, also known as a funicular railway, incline, inclined railway, inclined plane, or cliff railway, is a cable railway in which a cable attached to a pair of tram-like vehicles on rails moves them up and down a steep slope or on the hilly areas; the ascending and descending vehicles counterbalance each other.

Lauterbrunnen Valley ( Switzerland )

Lauterbrunnental in the Berner Oberland of Switzerland. This valley often regarded as a typical glaciated valley, in having a near U-shaped form in cross-section. True U-shapes such as this are relatively rare, however. The extremely steep valley sides causes numerous great waterfall, such as Staubbachfall seen here above the village of Lauterbrunnen.

Dudi Pat Sar lake ( Pakistan )

Dudipatsar Lake is another beautiful lake in Pakistan encircled by snow clad peaks. This lies in the extreme north of Kaghan Valley about 4 hours drive from chief town Naran. Travelers can come to this lake to unwind their mind from the humdrum life of the city and spend some calm moments in this location. The road is not entirely accessible for cars, even Jeeps. And from a certain point the visitors have to trek to reach the lake. Its water is a beautiful greenish blue and very cold too.

Lawari Pass ( Pakistan )

Lowari Pass is a high mountain pass that connects Chitral with Dir in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Lowari Top is a relatively low pass, by far the lowest pass to enter Chitral, the rest all being 12,000 to 15,000 feet.

Lowari Top is closed by snow from late November to late May every year. During this time, jeeps cannot cross so men must travel by foot. This is dangerous, as there are high mountains on each side of Lowari Top, and a deadly avalanche can come at any moment without warning.
